Paragon Space Development Corporation Welcomes The Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV) to Tucson
Tucson, Arizona: June 15, 2011 – Paragon Space Development Corporation (Paragon) helped welcome the arrival of the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle crew module that flew during the Pad Abort 1 Launch Abort System flight test in May 2010. Orion has been designated as NASA’s next generation space vehicle that will support deep space exploration beyond low Earth orbit. The crew module is being transported from Dryden Flight Research Center, CA, to Kennedy Space Center, FL, where it will be moved into the Operations and Checkout Facility. Along the route it will be making a stop at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, AZ.
Orion team members from Paragon, NASA and Lockheed Martin will be staffing the museum events to talk with the media and the public for the two-day visit. NASA astronaut Nick Patrick is also scheduled to participate in museum events on Thursday, June 16.
“As part the Lockheed Martin Orion industry team, Paragon is excited to welcome the flight test vehicle to our hometown and share it with the community which has been so supportive of our success as well as the success of the country’s space exploration program,” said Taber MacCallum, chief executive officer of Paragon.
