Space Suit System (CSSS) Teaming Agreement

July 2007, Tucson, Arizona – Paragon Space Development Corporation announced that it joined a team of companies led by Oceaneering International, Inc. to pursue NASA’s upcoming Constellation Space Suit System contract. The Constellation Space Suit System (CSSS) will be NASA’s next generation space suit. Its uses will include zero gravity operations in earth orbit and low gravity operations on the lunar surface.

Taber McCallum, CEO of Paragon Space Development Corporation, said “we are proud to be part of a great team.  Our commercial and government experience in thermal analysis and design, especially in regards to human life support systems, will allow us to provide the best value to NASA for this new system.  Our proven track record in technology development in thermal and life support systems for NASA makes us unique among small businesses, and well suited to contribute to this team.”

Mark Gittleman, Oceaneering Space Systems’ Vice President & General Manager, said “this team will provide NASA the lowest risk option for producing the United States’ next-generation space suit. Our team is most responsive, uniquely capable, and highly experienced. We also bring a fresh perspective to space exploration. For example, Oceaneering International is a world leader in developing and operating life support and robotic systems for harsh environments, and has developed and certified advanced life support systems for NASA for nearly 20 years. ”

Founded in 1993, Paragon Space Development Corporation is a full-service aerospace engineering and technology development firm. Paragon is a major supplier of Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) and sub-system design for the aerospace industry with expertise in thermal control for orbiting and re-entering spacecraft and hyper-velocity aircraft.
